Items and Upgrade Components in World of Warcraft
Upgrades can increase the value of weapons and armor. Upgrades to common and magic equipment aren't worth it, as rare or unique items will soon surpass them.
Upgrades can be made to an item up to six times. Each upgrade will add to the gauge of the item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve an item or boost its characteristics. Glyphs can be used to upgrade weapons or armor. Affixes to items can be used to give armor and weapons additional parameters. They are often a combination of one or more suffixes, or prefixes. For example -Fiery boosts atk power by adding fire elemental damage. Affixes for items are available for most items that are level 80, except for crafting ascended armor and trinkets.
