Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade item s, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be used to upgrade trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved as loot gathered by enemies or gotten from chests or missions. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
In order to upgrade an item of armor, the player has to select it, and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type limitation. Infusions are gems that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same benefits as jewels, but cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding an Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, except for inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level, but the required materials do not increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of these items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will increase its features. The number of affixes available is determined by the item's kind. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will have no more than two affixes for it, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade step will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete, depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the option to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However it has a lower success rate.
To determine the height of a structure, engineers will employ an instrument to compare the measurement with an established reference point like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This process is called a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high standard of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically increase the strength of an item, damage, or other characteristics. This can be done through the item menu or clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be used sparingly.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to acquire Reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes which made them easier to roll. This meant that you would receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than others. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each stat. This can be good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can come with a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater the chance of receiving the bonus of your choice.
The game also has a number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker route to a more powerful character, allowing them to reach high tiers and progress the game more quickly.
Sets
Sets are groups of elements that can be organized in different ways. They can have different sizes, have none at all, or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or separating information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, including size and shape.

There are many set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, others are not. Armor sets with high defense or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the quality of the item's stats when in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have many armor or weapons already.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique tools that are suitable for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to the level of the different tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items could improve their defense, and make them more competitive when it comes to damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the necessary items needed to upgrade it. This will display the item's attributes, along with the items needed to upgrade it. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements of specific items.
In general the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade because its defense will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
